Lekhny composition -22-Jul-2023
*A voice came from somewhere... It was the voice of an angel, and the light from our lamps illuminated the surroundings.*
*Mr. Lionel Henry*
Although the title may be slightly long, it couldn't be more fitting for this thread. The voices of certain individuals, especially our loved ones, have the power to refresh our minds when we hear them after many years.
It's hard to describe the impact in words. This is what I experienced when I connected with my friends from Bhavanisagar Government High School, the place where we shared aspirations and formed lasting bonds.
These interactions sparked a spiritual revival within me, leading to the creation of this new series.
Today, I want to share with my friends the enriching experiences I had when reconnecting with former students from our Bhavanisagar Government Higher Secondary School.
Mr. Lionel is a familiar name to anyone who attended Bhavanisagar Government Higher Secondary School in the early 1970s and 1980s. He is the elder son of Teacher Mrs. Kaniyamma and someone I hold in high regard.
Although I had some acquaintanceship with him during our school days, we were not particularly close. I was known him as a senior in school, and I would occasionally see him at Teacher Kaniyamma's home when teacher was giving private lessons to few students.
However, we didn't engage in much conversation. The main reason for that was the respect he commanded. Another reason was his strict discipline. Whenever he saw me, he would kindly advise me to make small changes in my style, dress, and habits. As a result, I tried to avoid face-to-face interactions as much as possible. However, over time, I realized the magnitude of my mistake. Nonetheless, I truly admire Mr. Lionel as a person.
After school, I lost contact with Mr. Lionel. It's something I would think about from time to time. Then, in the year 2000, I had the opportunity to visit Bombay (Mumbai). Mr. Lionel runs a business there. During my visit, I met my school friend Mr. Paul brother of Mr. Lionel and also had the chance to reunite with Mr. Lionel. That meeting marked our first conversation in almost 18 years. Although we didn't speak much during our school days, on that day we had the opportunity to talk extensively. The warmth and affection he showed me at that moment left a lasting impact. I couldn't help but regret the missed moments from our school days. However, this meeting served as a refreshing experience for me. We had a meaningful and heartfelt conversation.
After that encounter, there was again a significant gap. Almost 20 years later, in 2020, I spoke to Lionel brother on the phone. It was through Facebook that we reconnected. Our friendship has continued to flourish even in the current year 2023. Every time Lionel brother speaks to me, his kind words reveal the profound love he holds in his heart. He opens up and appreciates my creative endeavors. The surge of inspiration I feel after our conversations motivates me to perform better and mature as an individual.
Some people's voices carry a grandeur. The impact of a few words spoken by them can bring about immense changes in our practical lives. As I reflect on the missed moments of not speaking to Mr. Lionel during our school days, I can still feel the longing in my heart.
